Biography
I come from Banana Hill, Kiambu district, Kenya. My knowledge in art is entirely self-taught and I primarily work with oil on canvas as well as creating small sculptures & installation pieces from found materials. My work draws inspiration from personal experiences - depicting my dream-life, rural life in my home area and political commentaries.
Proposal
I propose to create a statement depicting the sanctuary ''home or away'' being a semi permanent and fragile habitation that would require care and attention to survive. I am creating five sculptures using plastic bottles, polythene and a mosquito net together with some other small found objects. The sculptures will be displayed together in the net to show how love, unity, care & mutual understanding can put the home together.
